I am a collector of words

Words feed me, free me, comfort, uplift and heal me. I've been saving my favorites in books, handwritten over the years and thought that perhaps in sharing them, not only am I preserving them for myself, but perhaps others may also find healing in them as I have.

Humanism

"No deity will save us, we must save ourselves. Promises of immortal
salvation or fear of eternal damnation are both illusory and harmful."
[Humanist Manifesto II, Prometheus Books, 1973]

Negative Diety

"People who inhabit the prison of negative diety...are partially responsible for keeping themselves locked in.   Religion supplied the building materials and they took up the task of their own self-incarceration.   Watched by a negative God, you learn to watch yourself with the same harshness."   John O' Donahue

The Divine

"There is nothing in the universe more intimate than the Divine.   When the image of the Divine we inherit is negative, a harsh judge, he forces your life to become a watched and haunted hunt for salvation."   John O' Donahue
