I am a collector of words

Words feed me, free me, comfort, uplift and heal me. I've been saving my favorites in books, handwritten over the years and thought that perhaps in sharing them, not only am I preserving them for myself, but perhaps others may also find healing in them as I have.

Love and Fear

"The effect you have on others is the most valuable currency there is."

"Our eyes are not just viewers.  They're also projectors that are running a second story over the picture that we see in front of us all the time.  Fear is writing that script.  Fear is going to be a player in your life.  You get to decide how much.  So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality.  What we really want seems impossibly  out of reach and ridiculous to expect so we never dare to ask the universe for it.  I'm saying that you can ask the universe for it.  Life doesn't happen to you, it happens for you.  As far as I can tell it's just about letting the universe know what you want and working toward it while letting go of how it comes to pass.  Why not take a chance on faith.   Not religion but faith.  Not hope but faith.   I don't believe in hope.  Hope is a beggar.  Hope walks through the fire and faith leaps over it.  You are ready and able to do beautiful things in this world.  You'll only ever have two choices.  Love and fear.  Choose love and don't ever let fear turn you against your playful heart."  Jim Carey

Master of my Fate

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
Invictus, by William Ernest Henley.

Change

"If our intention is to change who we essentially are, we will fail.  If our intention is to become who we essentially are, we cannot help but live true to the deepest longings of our soul."   Oriah Mountain Dreamer

Soulful Relationships

"The soulful relationship asks to be honored for what it is, not for what we wish it could be.   It has little to do with our intentions, expectations and moral requirements.   It has the potential to lead us into the mysteries that expand our hearts and transform our thoughts, but it can't do that when our primary interest is in pursuing our cherished ideologies of love, family, marriage and community."   Thomas Moore

Individuality

"The kind of individuality that soul generates is deeply rooted.   It isn't the kind that is manufactured as a life project.   It isn't the existentialist self made of choices or the psychologist's self-fashioned by family influences.   It isn't willed into existence, and it isn't shaped and sustained intentionally and consciously.   It is a mysterious emergence that is seeded in eternity and is truly limitless.   The power of this individuality is not forced but emanates from it's own depth and inherent  veracity."  Thomas Moore

Change

"You cannot intend for someone else to act in accordance with your desires.   This will bring you nothing but frustration.   You cannot make someone else ready, but you can take responsibility for your readiness.   This is within your power and this is what constitutes  your intentions.   Be ready to give what is necessary, do it with active intention, and let go of your desires."   Wayne Dyer
