I am a collector of words

Words feed me, free me, comfort, uplift and heal me. I've been saving my favorites in books, handwritten over the years and thought that perhaps in sharing them, not only am I preserving them for myself, but perhaps others may also find healing in them as I have.

Risk

"Those who don't love themselves as they are rarely love life as it is either.   In avoiding all pain and seeking comfort at all cost, we may be left without intimacy or compassion; in rejecting change and risk we often cheat ourselves of the quest; in denying our suffering we may never know our strength or our greatness.   Or even that the love we have been given can be trusted."   Rachel Naomi Remen

Troublemakers

"If we were to come up with one word about each of the troublemakers in our lives, we would find ourselves with a list of descriptions of our own rejected qualities which we project onto the outside world.   The people who repel us unwittingly show us aspects of ourselves we find unacceptable, which others can't see.   They mirror us and give us the chance to befriend all of that ancient stuff that we carry around like a backpack full of granite boulders."   Pema Chondron

Shadow work

"How odd that if we reject what is painful, we find only more pain, but if we embrace what is within us-if we peer fearlessly into the shadow- we stumble upon the light."   Elizabeth Lesser
