I am a collector of words

Words feed me, free me, comfort, uplift and heal me. I've been saving my favorites in books, handwritten over the years and thought that perhaps in sharing them, not only am I preserving them for myself, but perhaps others may also find healing in them as I have.

Communication

...the deepest level of communication is not communication but communion. It is wordless. It is beyond words and it is beyond speech and it is beyond concept. Not that we discover a new unity. We discover an older unity. My dear, we are already one. But we imagine that we are not. And what we have to recover is our original unity. What we have to be is what we are.

Peace and Unity

"Once we enter the unitive state, our passport is good in both worlds."  Eknath Easwaran

Fearlessness

"A fearless sort of living allows us to delight in the koan of human existence.   We stop fearing the opposite of happiness, or the opposite of success, or the opposite of love, because we no longer believe in opposites.  Unity within duality reduces the sense of drama and tragedy in daily life."  Elizabeth Lesser

Contradiction

"When we discover the supreme happiness of unity within ourselves we reconcile what once seemed irreconcilable.  Opposites become partners.   Our longing for stability in a constantly changing world becomes humorous.  Our desires for connection and our troubles with intimacy become grist for the spiritual mill.  We allow diversity to flourish within the context of unity.   We understand that the unadulterated, pure, singleness of feeling we long for can be experienced only when we allow all feelings to live in peace within our hearts."  Elizabeth Lesser
